Dr. Mark Kotter
Founder & Executive Chair
Mark Kotter is a neurosurgeon, stem cell biologist and entrepreneur. As clinician-scientist at the University of Cambridge, he has a particular focus on degenerative cervical myelopathy, an age-related condition that can cause irreversible spinal cord damage.
Treating patients with DCM made one question particularly tangible: why does our capacity to withstand and repair biological damage diminish with age, and can it be restored?
That question led Mark to found clock.health. Combining functional genomics, single-cell biology and machine learning, the company is learning how the biological programmes that maintain youthful cellular function change with age, and how they might be restored.
Mark previously founded bit.bio, translating research from his Cambridge laboratory into deterministic cell programming, and Myelopathy.org, which brings together patients, clinicians and researchers to improve outcomes in DCM.
A common idea connects his work: understand human cell biology deeply enough to change what is possible in medicine.

Petya Kamburova
Chief Business Officer
Petya Kamburova is a business executive with over 15 years of experience at the intersection of entrepreneurship, technology, and personalised healthcare. She holds an MPhil in Bioscience Enterprise from the University of Cambridge, where she authored a pioneering paper on commercialising rejuvenation therapeutics.
As Chief Business Officer at clock.health, Petya drives the commercial, partnerships and go-to-market strategies. Her track record of scaling high-growth ventures includes serving as the third hire in the Business Growth team of a technology startup, where she drove the company’s expansion across 50 markets and 1 billion global users. Also, she previously acted as a Managing Partner at the Longevity Consulting Group, bridging the science-to-market gap for preventative health start-ups and clinics.
She founded Collagen Clinic on London’s Harley Street with a focus on skin rejuvenation.
She also is part of the World Health Organisation’s Technology Task Force, developing digital products used by tens of millions of patients worldwide, and acts as Strategic Advisor for the Cambridge Society of Ageing and Longevity Research.

Dr. Koby Baranes
Head of Science
Koby Baranes is a neuroscientist and neuroengineer whose research focuses on understanding the cellular biology of ageing and rejuvenation. He completed his PhD in Neuroengineering in Israel before moving to the University of Cambridge for postdoctoral research.
At Cambridge, Koby developed a human induced pluripotent stem cell model in which cellular ageing can be experimentally induced and studied. This work provided the experimental foundation for investigating how ageing alters cellular state and, importantly, what happens when that ageing pressure is removed.
At clock.health, Koby applies this expertise to uncover the biological programmes that regulate cellular age and to identify ways of restoring youthful cellular function.

Dr. Fabio D’Orazio
Lead Bioinformatician
Fabio D’Orazio is a bioinformatician combining expertise in epigenetics and next-generation sequencing with a background spanning both industry and academia. At clock.health, he oversees all bioinformatics initiatives, providing data-driven insights to advance the company’s mission.
He was a Marie-Curie fellow within the Horizon2020 program and a postdoc at Imperial College London. His research has advanced the understanding of key areas in epigenetics such as cellular programming during EPSC differentiation and the identification of regulatory elements involved in early development. Prior to joining clock.health, Fabio worked at Illumina, where he kept a focus on data analysis and building bioinformatics tools.
When not at the computer, Fabio enjoys playing both traditional and e-football.

Dr. Joana Tavares
Head of Therapeutic Innovation
Joana Tavares is a scientist working at the intersection of bioengineering and neuroscience. She holds a master’s degree in bioengineering and a PhD from the University of Cambridge, where she studied the role of cellular metabolism in myelin formation and regeneration.
At clock.health, Joana applies this multidisciplinary perspective to ageing, investigating the biology that drives age-related cellular change and how it might be targeted therapeutically.
Her ambitions extend beyond individual discoveries. Joana is motivated by the potential of science and emerging technologies to improve human health, broaden access to better treatments and create lasting positive impact. Her work reflects a wider commitment to using her skills in service of people and society.

Dr. Jack Brelstaff
Senior Scientist
Jack Brelstaff is a post-doctoral scientist with over a decade of experience in neurodegeneration and inflammation. After obtaining a PhD from University College London he began an academic career at the University of Cambridge and pursued research into Alzheimer’s disease with a fellowship from Alzheimer’s Research UK.
More recently, he has moved into the biotech industry with positions at longevity start-ups 199Biotechnologies and now clock.health. He joined clock.health as a senior scientist and brings a valuable knowledge base and scientific rigour to the research team. He shares the company’s goal of increasing health-span through innovative rejuvenation technologies based on cutting-edge science.
When he’s not in the lab, you can find him at a climbing gym, or out hiking with his golden retriever Nettie.

Dr. Janine Brandes
Research Scientist
Janine Brandes is a neuroscientist driven by a passion for tackling age-related diseases through cutting-edge research. During her PhD at the University of Cambridge, she developed novel human 3D cell models to investigate immune-brain interactions in a dish. Prior to that, she collaborated with industry partners on a high-throughput drug screening project.
Leveraging her background in automation and eight years of experience studying neurodegeneration, she contributes to clock.health’s mission to mitigate the effects of aging on health.
Outside the lab, Janine enjoys exploring her creative side through cooking, music, and ballet.
